Challenge a friend to a typing race
Take a test, send the link, and your friend races a replay of your run on the same text, at any time.
How a challenge works
Take a 30-second, one-minute or two-minute test, then create a challenge link. When your friend opens it, they type the same text while a second marker shows where you were at the same moment, so it feels like a live race even days later. At the end they see who won, and can send a challenge straight back.
Fair by design
The link holds the text, your result and a replay of your progress, signed by TypingSpark so nobody can change the numbers. Before signing, the replay is checked against the result, so a link cannot claim a speed the run did not show. You can watch a replay before racing it, at normal or double speed.
Private by design
Nothing is stored on our servers: everything is in the link. The only personal detail is an optional first name or nickname, and challenge links are kept out of search engines. If you share a link in a public place, anyone who opens it sees that name and result.
Questions
Does my friend need an account?
No. Opening the link is enough, on any device with a keyboard.
Do challenge links expire?
No. A link keeps working as long as TypingSpark keeps the same signing key.
Can a whole class take the same challenge?
Yes. Anyone with the link races the same replay. For marked work, use an assignment link or an online class from the teachers page.
