Memory Words

A word appears for a moment and vanishes. Type it from memory and press Enter. Three mistakes end the game.

How to play

Press Start. A word is shown briefly, then hidden. Type it and press Enter. Each correct word scores a point; every five words, the words get longer and the flash gets shorter. Three wrong answers end the game.

What it trains

Fast typists read a word once and type it without looking back at the screen. Memory Words trains exactly that: taking in a whole word at a glance and holding it while your fingers type. It also helps spelling, because you must reproduce the word letter by letter.

Tips

  • Read the word as a whole, not letter by letter.
  • Say it in your head as you type.
  • For long words, notice the tricky part, such as a double letter, while the word is still visible.

Questions

How long is each word shown?

About 1.6 seconds at first, getting shorter as you go, never less than half a second.

Does it count capitals?

No. Words are lowercase, and your answer is compared without regard to capitals.
